SafeHaus was co-founded by Chef Cole Lawson and Dashlyn Johnson as a response to a real need for safety, access, and care within hospitality and community spaces.

We created SafeHaus because we wanted a place where people could gather around food without fear of judgment or exclusion. A place where there are no wrong questions. Where curiosity is welcomed. Where people feel safe exploring their relationship with food, their bodies, and one another.

There is a real lack of access and shared knowledge around food, nourishment, and how bodies function within systems of care. Too often, hospitality feels gatekept, transactional, or intimidating. SafeHaus exists to counter that. It is a space rooted in community care, intention, and transparency.

Our Story

A place to gather
without fear

SafeHaus brings together our combined expertise. My background in hospitality, culinary work, and food as care, paired with Dashlyn’s background in security, systems, and protection, allows us to approach hospitality differently. Not just as an experience, but as a structure. One that prioritizes safety, clarity, and trust alongside nourishment and connection.

At its core, SafeHaus is a hub. A place to gather, learn, eat, reflect, and build together.

Through curated pop-up dinners, collaborative projects, journal writing, and future

physical offerings, SafeHaus is designed to support people where they are and offer thoughtful direction without shame or pressure. SafeHaus is not about perfection. It is about presence, care, and creating space for community to exist honestly.
